Under the old stock exchange: Bruxella 1238, a museum and archeological site retracing a thousand years of Brussels history.
It was here, in the heart of Brussels, not far from Saint-Géry island, that a Franciscan convent was built around 1238.
This archaeological site invites us to discover its remains, dating up to the first half of the 13th century.
Entering Bruxella 1238, at the level of the foundations of the medieval buildings, the remains tell us about the town's past.
The artefacts and tombs discovered by archaeologists during excavations carried out on the site (1988 - 2022) are presented in a new immersive experience that plunges us into an exciting part of Brussels history! !
Beer lovers beware: the Bruxella 1238 site is home to the tomb of John 1, Duke of Brabant, who inspired the legend of Gambrinus, the legendary King of Beer.
